While I'm asking for third-party shader support, I figured I might as well ask for you to support the other logical candidate: VReel's excellent Skin Shader. It'd be great if IPP could assemble the materials using this shader (directly, or as Reference Shader ) instead of the normal shader configuration, but otherwise populating the textures, settings, etc. appropriately.
Obviously, converting existing models to use VReel's Skin shader manually would be much easier if IPP constructed the materials using reference shaders, so if I had to choose between this and reference shader support, I'd much prefer the latter.
I realize there's a bit of a dilemma over adding support for these third-party products, but since they'd both be switched options, supporting them doesn't require users to have them. Also, as neither appears to have much in the way of direct competition, supporting them wouldn't necessitate supporting a bunch of competing alternatives either.
To paraphrase a quote I heard from Chuck Baker (Newtek): The better the product, the more feature requests it will generate. Think of this as my way of thanking you for producing such a great product! |
